Stewards Comments:
PERMARJEN shifted outwards at the start causing BULLA PROUD to buffet with COUNTER STRIKE. SO BLUE THE WATER raced fiercely in the early stages and when being steadied near the 1000m, threw its head in the air. ZOFFANELLO raced wide throughout. Approaching the 600m BEAUTELLO steadied from the heels of SHE'S GOD'S GIFT. At the 400m SO BLUE THE WATER shifted inwards slightly crowding FIRE CHIEF which mis-strode and then had to be restrained behind BEAUTELLO. Passing the 300m SHE'S GOD'S GIFT shifted outwards to obtain a clear run and bumped SARATOGA EXPRESS out onto ZOFFANELLO. Passing the 200m SHE'S GOD'S GIFT shifted inwards causing COUNTER STRIKE to steady. FIRE CHIEF had difficulty in obtaining a clear run over the final 150m. Trainer Mr. P. Nelligan could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance of PERMARJEN. He advised that he would have the gelding fully vetted and advise the results to the Stewards. Trainer Mr. P. Nelligan advised that a full veterinary examination of PERMARJEN revealed no abnormalities. He was advised that PERMARJEN would not be permitted to start in a race for a period of three weeks (to 28.06.00 inclusive). GEAR CHANGES: SO BLUE THE WATER - Blinkers Off.
