Stewards Comments

AFTER BURNER blundered on jumping nearly dislodging Jockey N. Rudland. CADUCEUS dipped at the start and racing to the 1400m was inconvenienced by PENNYWEIGHT POINT on its outside. In the early stages TURF CLIPPER raced wide. OLD CHAP hung outwards at the turn into the straight. Jockey Stephen Miller (PENNYWEIGHT POINT) reported that gelding raced greenly and had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight. Trainer Mr. G. Daly was questioned regarding the improved performance of IT'S CRYIN' TIME. He advised that the gelding had dipped on jumping at its previous start. However, it had failed to put in during the race and had pulled up unextended. Although adding blinkers to IT'S CRYIN' TIME, had not been confident of any improvement and subsequently the stable had not supported the gelding.
