Stewards Comments

CAMCHERIE pulled hard in the early and middle stages. POLISH FLYER steadied away from the heels of CAMCHERIE near the 1000m when the pace slowed. RED HUGH cast its near hind plate during running. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of MELISCION, Trainer Mr. A. Mortimer stated that he was as much surprised as anyone. He believed the gelding did not stay at its last start at Bunbury and when it raced in town, was out of its class. He decided to drop it back in class and to a distance the gelding preferred. Mr. Mortimer advised that he had only a token bet on MELISCION today. Trainer Mrs. S. Hughes reported that on returning to the stable, CALMAN GEAL was found to be in season.
