Stewards Comments

GREAT FINGALL was slow into stride. On jumping CHANGED RANCHER threw its head in the air and veered inwards, nearly dislodging Jockey. CHANGED RANCHER was eased down and took no further part in the race. Trainer was advised that CHANGED RANCHER would have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again. GREAT FINGALL was steadied away from the heels of THINK SAFE near the 1050m. KEY LASS and THINK SAFE bumped at the 400m. THINK SAFE was held up for a clear run until the 250m and then shifted outwards, crowding KEY LASS which had to be steadied. JUNGLE JET lay out under pressure over ther final 175m. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GREAT FINGALL, Trainer advised that the gelding was still learning about racing and did not appreciate racing amongst the field. He stated that the way the race had been run with a slow early pace had not suited GREAT FINGALL and as such when the field had sprinted the gelding could not go with them. Trainer was questioned regarding the disappointing performance of JUNGLE JET and she stated that she was of the opinion that JUNGLE JET had not handled the track conditions today. Ms. C. Stelmach stated although JUNGLE JET had won at Bunbury on 26 April 2000 on a dead track, she believed that the conditions today were different to that and had contributed to the gelding's poor performance.
