Stewards Comments

TRUCK LOAD was slow into stride. SO BLUE THE WATER and ISLAND JOKER bumped at the start. WESTERN POMPEII jumped awkwardly. Approaching the 800m TUDOR DAWN shifted outwards and was steadied off the heels of PORTARE. Approaching the 650m TUDOR DAWN shifted inwards quickly and bumped heavily with ISLAND JOKER. Near the 500m PORTARE when laying inwards, was blocked for a clear run and bumped with ISLAND JOKER causing that gelding to strike the running rail. TRUE TORANNI was blocked for a clear run from the 300m until the 150m. A Veterinary inspection of WESTERN POMPEII revealed the gelding to have returned distressed. Trainer Mr. P. Rowe was advised that WESTERN POMPEII would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness and would have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again.
