Stewards Comments

VOLTEGA was slow into stride and returned having cast its near hind plate. KING RIVER bounded at the start. Approaching the 900m SENSSAY steadied from the heels of VOLTEGA and became unbalanced. STORMY BUSINESS was unable to obtain a clear run from the 600m and when making ground quickly passing the 200m, had to be steadied. STORMY BUSINESS was then further held up until near the 175m. SUPER THRUST raced wide at the turn into the straight and had a tendency to lay inwards over the final 150m. Trainer was questioned regarding the poor performance of BATAVIA BOY. He stated that BATAVIA BOY was pressure when leading and was not suited by the distance of today's race. He advised that he would increase the gelding's workload and start BATAVIA BOY over a greater distance in midweek company in an endeavour to improve the gelding's form.
