Stewards Comments

AVALON POWER and JEV FORCE bumped at the start. As did WILDPRO and NEW VERSION. Approaching the 900m WILDPRO when pulling hard, had to be eased from the heels of OLD JIM. WILDPRO then shifted outwards bumping SILK 'N' STEEL on several occasions. Shortly after SILK 'N' STEEL had to be eased inconveniencing NEW VERSION. Near the 100m OLD JIM lay inwards across the heels of I'M YOUR REWARD obliging its rider to stop and straighten the gelding on several occasions. This placed Jockey at a disadvantage in riding OLD JIM out to the finish. Trainer was questioned regarding the improved performance of I'M YOUR REWARD compared to its previous start at Mt. Barker on 16 December, 2000. He advised that I'M YOUR REWARD is best suited when racing near the lead or leading which the mare was unable to do last start. It was his intention where possible, to have I'M YOUR REWARD ridden in a forward position in future.
