Stewards Comments

CHAUCER was slow to begin. DEPARTURE LOUNGE hung inwards in the straight obliging its rider to stop riding and straighten on several occasions. Trainer Mr. P. Oliver and Jockey C. Coombe were questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ROYAL LACE. Jockey Coombe stated that ROYAL LACE was better suited when being held up for a run. Today from a wide barrier, he had been unable to get cover. Further, ROYAL LACE did not appear to handle the track and he felt that it was a beaten horse before the home turn. Mr. Oliver stated that it was now his intention to give ROYAL LACE a short let up. Mr. P. Oliver was advised that ROYAL LACE would not be permitted to start in a race for a period of three weeks.
