Stewards Comments

STELLA REGALE bumped on jumping. ELSIE THE EAGLE raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider advised that the mare had been obliged to race wide throughout but when asked for an effort did not accelerate and had laboured in the straight. Trainer expressed disappointment with the performance and stated that the mare had worked well during the week and he had expected a forward showing. It was established that the connections had supported the mare. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and specimens were ordered to be taken from the mare. Trainer was advised that the mare would not be permitted to start in a race for a period of three weeks. Trainer undertook to monitor the mare on return to the stables and advise Stewards of anything that may come to his attention in the ensuing days. Returned having cast its near fore plate during running. Trainers representative advised that blood specimens taken from ELSIE THE EAGLE revealed the mare to be suffering from a minor viral infection and was now undergoing a course of treatment. YA YA EFFENDI raced keenly in the middle stages. Restrained near the 900m. ZAMBANE inconvenienced shortly after the start. RANCHER'S BOY slow to begin. Steadied approaching the 800m. TALK TO THE WALL veered outwards shortly after the start. Steadied approaching the 800m.
