Stewards Comments

CEEFA jumped awkwardly and bumped. Raced fiercely and as a result wide in the middle stages. FIRE FROM ICE when questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance, rider stated that despite being ridden along in the early stages, he did not have the pace to lead although had travelled well throughout with cover but his mount failed to respond when placed under pressure in the straight. Trainer advised that he did not believe that the gelding had been suited when not being able to lead in the event. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RUN BENNY RUN was withdrawn by the Stewards at 4.04pm acting on Veterinary advice when the gelding was found to be lame in the near fore leg. All bets made on the gelding were refunded. Deductions from winning bets were made in accordance with RWWA Rule of Wagering 56. Trainer was advised that the gelding would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness before racing or trialling again. STAR OF HILL bumped at the start. Lay outwards when placed under pressure in the straight. A post race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a minor abrasion to the off hip. SIR VIV restrained to avoid heels at the 500m.
