Stewards Comments

FLYING CROWN performed poorly. On return to scale rider advised that the gelding had felt uncomfortable in its action. A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer was advised that the gelding would not be permitted to race for a period of two weeks. SUDDEN RECOVERY slow into stride. SUNRISE SOARING rider was questioned regarding his handling in the early and middle stages when leading by a significant margin. Rider stated that he had been instructed to take a trail behind the leader if possible, but after beginning well he progressed to the outright lead and through the middle stages he had not realised the fast pace he was setting when travelling on the inside of MASTER VISION and consequently his mount compounded on straightening. These instructions were confirmed by Trainer who did express disappointment with the ride. Rider was advised that in the opinion of the Stewards although he had erred by misjudging the pace in the middle stages, he had at no stage persisted to maintain the lead when challenged. He was strongly advised that he would be expected to display improvement in this area in future. Rider was further advised that this ride would be referred to the RWWA riding Master Mr laceration. Millington for tutelage in the aspects outlined.
