Stewards Comments

BIRKHALL raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the poor performance, rider advised that the gelding after being caught racing wide, was under pressure from the 800m. Trainer was of the opinion that the gelding had not been suited to racing wide. He advised that it was his intention not to start the gelding for a period of two weeks and drop it back in distance. A post- race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed nothing amiss. FLYING JOHNSON held up on straightening until approaching the 250m and flicked over the nose by the whip of another rider near the 150m. STAR OF TELESTO commenced slowly and then failed to respond when ridden along in the early stages, losing ground from the remainder of the field. Trainer advised that the gelding would now be retired. TRAIL BREAKER raced wide over the final 600m.
