Stewards Comments

ON THE RECORD dipped on jumping and wide from the 800m. MISGUIDING carried in near the 200m. DECRYPTOR commenced to race keenly passing the 1000m and near the 900m shifted outwards and bumped on two occasions. DUBAI LIGHTNING held up for clear running between the 300m and the 125m. When questioned regarding his riding of the gelding in the early and middle stages, in particular the reason he did not allow the gelding to stride forward and race behind the leader, Jockey Carbery stated that he had been instructed to position the gelding off the pace as it had failed to finish its races off as expected at its previous two starts when ridden forward. He further advised that he had been reluctant to allow his mount to stride forward in the early stages as the gelding has had a previous tendency to race fiercely and not settle. Trainer confirmed the riding instructions and Jockey Carbery's comments and further stated that the gelding had got back further in the field than he had anticipated when crossed by anther runner near the 800m and that he would have preferred it to be positioned a length closer in the middle stages. Jockey Carbery was told that in the opinion of the Stewards he had erred in steadying his mount through middle stages as this had caused it to race further back than necessary. Trainer was reminded of his obligations to advise Stewards of any change in riding instructions in future. GRAND ACADEMY fractious in the barrier prior to start. REVY JAY lay in over the final 200m. BONNY DEE held up on straightening. FRIARTRUCK bumped on two occasions at the 900m and raced wide throughout.
