WESTERN ZED lay inwards on straightening. GRAND ACADEMY fractious in the barriers. Raced wide on straightening. ROBELEN PARK trainer was questioned regarding the reason for the gelding leading today as compared to its most recent start where it raced in a rear position. She stated that she had instructed the rider to race forward at its previous start, however the gelding had raced in an open class at its previous start and did not have the pace to be able to take up a forward position. Today with no pace in the race the gelding jumped well and was obliged to lead. She further stated that it would be her intention to have the gelding race forward where possible. HIGH COURT raced wide throughout. SIR MONDANE restrained from heels near the 1000m losing considerable ground. Bumped near the 200m when attempting to obtain a clear run. BROCKY'S ACE fractious in the barrier. Taken inwards over heels near the 225m to obtain a clear run and bumped shortly after. Rider was shown a film of this incident and advised that he must exercise greater care in future when shifting ground. INNOCENT BYSTANDER steadied and got its head in the air for a short distance near the 1000m losing ground. Lay outwards from the 600m. LUXURY GIFT when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider explained that the mare had not felt comfortable in running. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer was of the opinion that the mare may have resented the blinkers and was granted permission to remove the blinkers before racing again.
