Stewards Comments

LIQUIDATION lay outwards and raced tightly with another runner near the 200m. Trainer advised that the gelding would now be sent for a spell. PEARLER reared on jumping losing considerable ground. AFRICAN ACTION crowded shortly after the start. Steadied and shifted outwards to avoid the heels of a tiring runner near the 450m. DANAMOSS bumped and restrained near the 200m. BLACK PRINT bumped becoming unbalanced near the 200m and then shifted inwards. BERLIOZ cramped for racing room passing the winning post the first time. When being ridden along near the 150m, lay inwards and struck the running rail with both horse and rider becoming unbalanced almost dislodging its rider. Rider was advised that under similar circumstances he should make every effort to keep his mounts straight. Trainer representative advised consideration would now be given to altering the racing bit on the colt. BIG TED over-raced approaching the 1800m. Crowded and carried inwards near the 1600m. MELTDOWN tightened and restrained near the 1600m. NEGRA SANTO when questioned regarding her riding in the early and middle stages, rider advised that the gelding commenced to pull hard passing the winning post on the first occasion and took control of her and therefore she was unable to restrain it and consequently strode forward and led the field by a considerable margin from the 1250m. Trainer advised that the gelding did not appear to be suited by the step up in distance and he would assess the recovery of the gelding on return to the stables and advise Stewards of his future intentions. Trainer later advised that it was now his intention to increase the gelding's workload and race it over a lesser distance at its next start in an attempt to have it settle.
