Stewards Comments

LAST CURTAIN fractious in the barriers prior to the start. ADMIRING when questioned regarding the performance rider advised that he had urged the mare forward passing the 700m, however it failed to quicken as expected and was disappointing in that the mare did not show its normal acceleration and although only approximately two lengths off the leader on straightening was unable to make ground from thereon. He further advised that the mare had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight placing him at some disadvantage in not being able to ride it out fully. Trainer expressed disappointment with the performance and stated that the mare raced in a dour manner and that he would now monitor its recovery and advise Stewards of its immediate racing program, however it was likely that he would race the mare over an increased distance at its next start. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
