Stewards Comments

MAJOR CANNY bounded on jumping and crowded and pulled hard in the early and middle stages. Rider was questioned with regard to this gelding not taking up the lead as he done in previous starts and reported to Stewards that as a result of it bounding at the start and becoming crowded and was unable to take the lead which was contrary to his instructions which were to have led the field. SMART PUNCH commenced awkwardly. SAFFRON FIRE lost its tongue tie shortly after the start. Blocked for clear running from on straightening until leaving the 150m. MATADOR lay outwards throughout and got its head in the air of a number of occasions between the 1200m and 800m. THE PENSKI FILE pulled up with lameness in the off fore. Trainer was advised that the gelding would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness and would also have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again. TWO STRONG HEARTS raced wide throughout.
