Stewards Comments

AQUINAS Held tight and steadied, losing ground near the 1900m. CORONATE Fractured its near hind pastern and sustained a condylar fracture of the near hind cannon during running and was subsequently euthanased. BROOME TIME Held tight and bumped near the 1900m. COHORT Held tight and impeded passing the 800m by a tiring runner. AMBERLYN Dipped on jumping. When questioned regarding her tactics from the 1200m in allowing the mare to stride forward and apply pressure to the leader thereby establishing a considerable margin on the remainder of the field, rider advised that she was instructed to allow the mare to improve from the 1000m due to it lacking a finishing sprint and being better suited by a genuine pace throughout. Stewards advised Apprentice that in their opinion she had erred in attempting to fulfil the riding instructions as the leader had set a true pace through the early and middle stages. Apprentice was told that her riding of the mare lacked initiative in not varying her tactics according to the circumstances of the race and judgement in regard to pace and she was reminded of the provisions of ARR.135(bumped) in that she must give her mounts every opportunity to win or obtain the best possible placing in the field at all times. She was further advised that this matter would be referred to the Riding Masters for their guidance and instruction to prevent a repetition. DANELEZ Due to the poor performance, Trainer was advised that the filly would not be permitted to race at Saturday Metropolitan meetings until it shows an improvement in its form.
