Stewards Comments

KING KOOL KAT Over-raced in the early and middle stages. GOD HAS SPOKEN When questioned, Trainer explained that he was of the belief that the stallion had not appreciated the previous soft tracks and that improvement today was to be expected when racing on a firmer track. BATTLE EMBLEM Over-raced in the early and middle stages. KAWATIRI Raced wide from 1400m. IMPRESSIVE JEUNEY A post race Veterinary examination of the mare revealed no abnormalities. When questioned, rider could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance and stated that passing the 500m the mare had commenced to labour and showed no dash from there on. Trainer advised that the mare's trackwork was faultless through the week and that he expected a forward showing. It was now his intention to have extensive Veterinary tests, including an endoscopic examination and lung wash, after which he would advise the Stewards of the results and the future racing programme of the mare. SENSE OF PURPOSE A post race Veterinary examination of the mare revealed it to have returned with lameness in the near fore. Trainer was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness would be required prior to the mare racing or trialling again.
