PRINCE KODIAK Held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight. HUSSATION Commenced to over-race near the 800m and when improving onto heels was steadied. Held up behind the heels of a tiring runner at the 300m and angled outwards to obtain a clear run. CHIRON Lay inwards passing the 350m when struck with the whip. OUR IVY Scrambled on jumping and lost ground. Pulled hard in the early and middle stages. UNIVERSAL MIST Jumped awkwardly and threw its head. Raced wide from the 800m. VIKING Raced greenly in the straight and blocked for clear running passing the 100m and then angled inwards to obtain a clear passage. When questioned regarding his riding of the gelding in the straight, rider explained that it had lay inwards throughout the race and this had placed him at a disadvantage in urging the gelding forward in the early stages of the straight. Further, near the 250m was impeded for clear running by another runner and when making ground over the concluding stages was impeded by another runner which had shifted ground outwards. Trainer advised that the gelding still had a tendency to race greenly and it was his intention to experiment with winkers in its training. He further stated that he would start the gelding over an increased distance at its next race start and would expect it to race in a more forward position than it did today.
