Stewards Comments

BRAVE KNIGHT Commenced to over-race shortly after the start and as a result got its head in the air when attempting to be steadied passing the 1200m and continued to race keenly through the middle stages. KENS DOUBLE Bumped at the start. OCEAN CRACKER Lay inwards in the straight with the rider changing the whip to his left hand near the 150m. THE TENBY FRIAR Carried outwards passing the 1200m. Raced wide from the 400m and lay inwards on straightening. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance, rider explained that from the wide barrier he had allowed the gelding to settle at the rear of the field and consequently it had been unsuited to the moderate pace set throughout the event which placed it at a disadvantage however it had run on over the final stages. SONNY BISCAY Raced wide from the 600m. Lay inwards under pressure in the straight. BALI CRUISER Raced wide throughout. THE CORPORATION Commenced to lay outwards approaching the 1200m turn and raced in restricted room shortly after and as a result had to be checked by its rider when tightened. Lay outwards through the middle stages. Crowded and steadied when laying outwards passing the 600m. FLASH GIFT Late withdrawal at when Trainer advised that the gelding was found to be showing signs of lameness. Trainer was advised that the gelding would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness prior to racing or trialling again. VAIN STRIKE Steadied outwards from heels passing the 1200m. Rider advised that the gelding mis-strode near the 600m and felt uncomfortable in its action and he therefore eased it down and retired it from the event. A post race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a suspected fracture of the near fore cannon. Trainer was advised that the gelding would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness prior to racing or trialling again.
