Stewards Comments

EAGLE PEAK Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. NIKE HEIR Improved onto heels when racing keenly and was obliged to steady from heels at the 1000m. ZUYTDORP Lay inwards in the straight. PERSIAN PLAY Raced wide throughout. CHINA CAUSEWAY Raced wide throughout. STORMISH Lay inwards in the straight. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider advised that the gelding had not travelled well throughout running and had come under pressure from the 600m and despite his urgings had given ground from thereon. He further advised that his mount may not have strode out completely freely and stretched out as it had done on his previous start at Derby. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer advised that the gelding may be better suited racing on sand surfaces and she will give consideration to racing it at Port Hedland for future starts. WHALAH failed to be loaded into its barrier prior to the start being effected and as such was left behind. Acting under the provisions of ARR.134(a) Stewards declared the gelding a non-runner.
