Stewards Comments

VERDELLO BLUE Rider was shown a film of the race over the final 100m and was advised to straighten his mounts to prevent other runners from being carried inwards and held tight. LADYSEA Rider reported that the mare was under pressure from the 800m and failed to run on in the straight. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer advised that consideration would be given to sending the gelding for a spell and he would advise Stewards accordingly. Trainer's foreperson later advised that a Veterinary examination on return to the stables revealed no abnormalities and the gelding would not start in a race for a period of at least two weeks. GIANT'S ISLAND Tightened and steadied passing the winning post on the first occasion. Held up passing the 400m and when angled outwards at the 300m was bumped. KENBON Slow into stride. Compounded from the 600m and was eased down passing the 100m. A post race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have returned with cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer was advised that the gelding will require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness including an ECG prior to trialling and will have to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. MIDNIGHT TOUCH Raced wide from the 800m. STARLIGHT LADY Crowded and carried inwards passing the winning post on the first occasion. When racing keenly blundered from heels near the 800m. Bumped passing the 300m. GRANDSTAND Raced wide from the 800m. BETTER THAN DARCY Raced in restricted room over the final 100m. ATHENA'S ME MUM Threw its head on jumping. Crowded and steadied passing the winning post on the first occasion.
