Stewards Comments

GUEST AT SEA and WESTON RULER bumped on jumping. TWIGGING was slow into stride. At the 450m RUSTIC PRINCE veered outwards off the heels of the tiring GRAND GARCON, causing GUEST AT SEA to steady. AUSTRALASIA with Jockey J. Noske and Stephen Miller's spurs becoming entangled for two strides. Over the final 50m REIGNLINE lay inwards and on two occasions bumped LOOK OF SUCCESS. Jockey P. Knuckey was questioned regarding his riding of SILVER FLYER. He stated that the gelding was best ridden from a rearward position and allowed to have one sprint. Further, that although not pulling the whip, he believed the gelding was giving its best and ran on well considering the sectional time. Trainer Mr. L. Smith advised that SILVER FLYER was best suited when allowed to find its feet and would benefit from the run. He undertook to instruct that SILVER FLYER be ridden in a similar manner in future. Whilst accepting these explanations, Stewards advised Jockey P. Knuckey that he was expected to show greater vigour and had an obligation to place his mounts under pressure to ensure that their true form was exposed.
