Racing Stars on Display at Hall of Fame Launch

The inaugural West Australian Racing Industry Hall of Fame was launched at King's Park today.

This prestigious event, which will be held every two years, honours the champions of WA's rich racing history from across the three racing codes: thoroughbred, harness and greyhound.

Notable racing identities such as Fred Kersley, Bill Horn and Phil Coulson were on hand today to see the announcement of 37 nominees.

From the list of nominees, 15 inaugural inductees will be welcomed into the Hall of Fame at a gala ceremony at the Perth Convention Centre on 17 November.

"Western Australia has enjoyed a long and distinguished racing history spanning over 150 years," said Ron McFarlane, Chairman of the West Australian Racing Industry Hall of Fame Management Committee.

"There has never been a better time to highlight and celebrate the contribution WA racing champions have made to our local and national industries."
