17 May 2011 Harness Media Release

RWWA Stewards today inquired into a report from RWWA Investigator Mr Geoff Johnson, regarding Driver Greg Kersley at the Byford Trials conducted on Sunday, 15 May 2011.
Mr Kersley pleaded guilty to a charge issued under the provisions of Local Rule 252AB (1)(a)(ii) which states:

(1) A driver commits an offence if: (a) a sample taken from the driver is found to contain the presence of: (ii) a percentage of alcohol in the blood in excess of 0.02 per cent of alcohol.

Mr Kersley had his Driver’s licence suspended for a period of six weeks to take effect from midnight 15 May 2011, the date from which he had been stood down from driving.
In determining penalty Stewards were mindful of Mr Kersley’s guilty plea, his record which indicated this was a first offence of this nature and his personal circumstances including those which led to the offence being committed.
