Prohibited Substances

The presence of Prohibited Substances in racing animals is viewed seriously and punishments are generally severe.

Trainers are reminded, especially in the period leading up to a race, of their responsibility:

  • For the condition and care of their animals;
  • To take precautions in regard to the feeding and safeguarding of their animals; and
  • To ensure that people having contact with their animals are aware of the consequences should a ‘positive’ sample be returned.

Advice

For advice on the use of products that may contain Prohibited Substances trainers should consult their veterinarian or contact the RWWA Veterinary Department (Drs Judith Medd and Peter Symons on (08) 9277 0759, 0419 933 719 (Medd) or 0404 893 041 (Symons).
