RWWA Stewards today concluded an inquiry into a report from Principal Investigator Mr Phil O’Reilly regarding the involvement of licenced Jockey Clint Harvey into illegal conduct by former RWWA Handicapper Mr BJ Ryan.
At a previous hearing Jockey Clint Harvey pleaded guilty to a charge under AR175(a) for a dishonest practice in that he knowingly consented to receive Rider Engagement Fees to which he was not entitled to during the period of approximately eight (8) months from March to November 2007.
In considering penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Harvey’s:
- guilty plea and early admission to his involvement
- remorsefulness
- had not gained financially from his wrong doing as found by the Court
- on his own accord ceased his involvement in the dishonest practice
- personal circumstances at the time of the offence
Jockey Harvey was suspended from riding in races for a period of eight (8) months backdated to commence 27 April 2011, on which date he was stood down by the Stewards. Consequently Jockey Harvey’s suspension will expire at midnight on 26 December 2011.
