RWWA Stewards yesterday resumed the adjourned inquiry into a report received from the
ChemCentre in Perth, that the post race blood sample taken from MEHTURT NZ after it
competed and finished unplaced in Race 2, The Gate Bar & Bistro Fillies And Mares Pace
(2100m) at Gloucester Park on Friday, 26 August 2011, had a level of total carbon dioxide
(TCO2) in excess of 36.0 millimoles per litre in plasma.
Trainer Mrs Debbie Padberg had at the previous sitting on 8 November 2011, pleaded not
guilty to a charge issued by Stewards under HR190(1) for presenting MEHTURT NZ to race at
Gloucester Park on Friday, 26 August 2011, with a level of total carbon dioxide (TCO2) in
excess of 36.0 millimoles per litre in plasma and the matter had been adjourned to hear
submissions in defence of the charge.
After hearing extensive submissions from Mrs D Padberg and her daughter Ms Kristy Padberg,
in defence of the charge, due to the time difference, the matter was adjourned to enable
evidence to be led from NSW based Veterinary Surgeon Dr David Evans and will now resume
on Thursday 15 December 2011 at 10.00am in the Stewards Room at Ascot Racecourse.
