18 April 2012 Im Victorious secures the pole for the Sky Racing WA Derby

Im Victorious is likely to start favourite in Friday's Group 1 Sky Racing WA Derby at Gloucester Park after drawing the coveted inside barrier for the $200,000 feature.

Im Victorious is prepared by Michael Brennan who has only just established his own training complex after serving an apprenticeship with champion trainer Gary Hall Snr.

Im Victorious has been a revelation since arriving from New Zealand, wining six of his seven Australian starts, including last week's traditional Derby lead-up, the Western Gateway.

The son of Washington VC is raced by former Fremantle Dockers captain Peter Bell and thoroughbred trainers Simon Miller and Kellie Grantham.

Gracias Para Nada, who appeared to have the Derby at his mercy a month ago, has again drawn the back line and will carry the number 10 saddle cloth.

Group 1 winner Soho Valencia has drawn barrier two but is also engaged in the fourth heat of the NSW Derby at Menangle on Saturday night.

Soho Valencia is owned by leading Western Australian owner-breeder Robert Watson and it is understood the WA Derby is the preferred option.

Fellow Victorian raider Mr Nickel has drawn well in nine, following out Soho Valencia from the second line, while leading local trainer Greg Bond will debut high quality import Your Good Fortune, who will track Im Victorious.

The barrier draw for the $200,000 Group 1 Sky Racing WA Derby is:
