
Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) today announced a $6M net increase* to distributions for the 2012/13 racing season.
The $113M Distribution will be applied across the three codes with Greyhounds provided a $1.5M increase; Harness a $1.1M increase and Thoroughbreds a $3.4M increase. In light of commitments made in the three code strategic plans, RWWA proposes an emphasis on participant returns via stakes and breeding bonuses, along with appropriate training assistance to Clubs.
RWWA Chief Executive Officer Richard Burt said, "RWWA is pleased to provide a healthy $6M increase to industry funding in the upcoming season starting 1 August 2012 and we look forward to finalising that allocation of funding in consultation with our industry stakeholders over the coming weeks."

Burt and General Manager Racing Ken Norquay commenced RWWA's May" Outreach to Industry’ programme today at Narrogin Race and Pace Club. The programme will continue over the coming weeks with further Outreach sessions in Albany, Bunbury, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Northam, Perth and Pinjarra.
*2012/13 is a normalised 52 week year; 2011/12 was a 53 week year Distribution allocation; the respective allocation is $6M above a normalised 2011/12
