05 June 2012 Our Jet Li The Best For Beard

Shane Beard has high hopes Our Jet Li can deliver a knockout blow and land her first win in the $27 Tuesday Buffet Maiden Series (405m) at Mandurah tonight.

Our Jet Li is getting close after being placed twice from four starts since resuming from an extended period away from the track last month.

The daughter of Surgeon returned at Mandurah on May 15 and ran a smart 23.02sec when runner-up to Kridon Kavorka.

She hasn't gone close to repeating that time at her subsequent two runs but according to Beard there have been genuine excuses.

"She has been unlucky but hopefully she can breakthrough tonight and I rate her the best of my chances," Beard said.

Wirra's Brother has had his fair share of injury problems but has the ability to test rivals in the Sprintergold Maiden Stake (490m).

At his second appearance last week he was handy throughout before finishing second to Make A Racket in 28.39sec.

Wirra's Brother, at his third career start, will commence from the yellow box.

"He can jump alright but is still learning how to race," Beard said.

"But if he gets the right run and goes ok he is a definite place chance."

Bowler's Fancy steps out for her first appearance in the Skyracing.tv Maiden Series (405m) and qualified when running 23.54sec in a recent trial.

Beard is expecting further improvement and believes box two will be pivotal to her chances on debut.

"It's a fairly tough field but she has a real big place chance from the draw," Beard said.
