16 June 2012 It's Brother Bill For Cortes At Carnarvon

Walkaway trainer Glen Cortes has given supporters a strong lead by leaning towards Brother Bill in preference to stable mates Comfyaz and Tommykaira in the Hot Hits Radio Handicap (1000m) at Carnarvon on Saturday.

Brother Bill stamped his claims with a strong 1200m over Royal Capishe, Comfyaz bounced back to form after a disappoint last-start performance while Tommykaira will need a massive form turnaround after getting trounced by 17 lengths.

"Bomber Bill is back to the form I know he is capable of and from barrier one will get the run of the race," said Cortes.

"Comfyaz is also racing in good order but coming back to the 1000m might be a touch slick for her."

Cortes expects Love The Faith, Sexy City and Born Glory to bounce back and perform strongly in the Carnarvon News Handicap (1200m).

Sexy City kicked off her stable debut with a narrow win over Typhoon Strike before having her colours lowered when placed seventh behind the red-hot Wotchinyu.

One place ahead of her was Born Glory who at her previous start had run a solid second to Makesyouhappy at her first run this preparation.

Love The Faith hasn't reached the form he set earlier in Geraldton and has been beaten by 19 lengths in two runs this time in.

"He had genuine excuses last time out when he slipped at the start which effectively ended his race," said Cortes.

"The blinkers go and I expect him to be rattling home late.

"Sexy City was a good winner two starts back and there was no disgrace in getting beaten by Wotchinyu.

"Born Glory got jammed in at the start and is a strong chance if she is allowed to find clear galloping room.

"I find it tough to split them."

Veteran galloper Aknightus landed his fifth win from 102 starts when he defeated Saddington by a good margin at Mount Magnet earlier in April.

Cortes believes winning form is good form and has cautioned supporters not to discount the son of Key Business when he tackles the Carnarvon Hotel Handicap (1000m).

"Don't dismiss the run because it was a terrific effort from where he was," said Cortes

"He missed the kick, was five and six deep and was eased down.

"If he produces that again he will be in the mix."
