RWWA Stewards today concluded an inquiry into an incident alleged to have occurred at a unit complex in Mathieson Road Ascot on the afternoon of Friday 27th April 2012 involving Licensed Track Riders Mr R. Finger and Ms V. Clune.
Evidence was taken from RWWA Deputy Chief Steward Mr David Hensler who investigated the matter following the lodgement of a complaint by Ms. Clune. Evidence was also taken from Ms Clune and Mr Finger who attended the Stewards inquiry.
Mr R. Finger pleaded guilty to a charge under Australian Rule of Racing AR175(q) for improper conduct, with the particulars of the charge being that on Friday 27th April 2012 at a unit complex in Mathieson Road he did threaten and physically assault licensed person Ms V. Clune.
In determining penalty Stewards took into account; Mr R. Fingers acknowledgement of the offence by virtue of his plea of guilty and forthright manner That this was his first offence of this nature Circumstances of the offence That his Track Riders licence had been suspended since 10 May 2012 pending conclusion of charges before the Courts and completion of the Stewards inquiry. That Mr R. Finger had been made subject of a Community Based Order and court costs as a result of charges stemming from this matter.
Stewards determined the appropriate penalty in the circumstances to be a disqualification of six (6) months, effective immediately.
