Awards

The Greyhound Industry Awards run on a calendar year basis with a separate award for each Greyhounds WA venue.

There are two person awards:

  • Trainer of the Year
  • Owner of the Year

and three greyhound awards:

  • Track Star (Greyhound) of the Year
  • Leading WA Stud Dog
  • Leading WA Dam

These awards are club-based, rather than conducted by RWWA, and the winners are honoured by Greyhounds WA at a yearly awards function.

Stud dogs must be registered as a WA stud dog with RWWA at the time of the service to obtain award points from the performances of his progeny.

WA dams must whelp the litter in WA to obtain award points from the performances of her progeny.

Points are awarded in the following manner:

  • At Cannington – a City Class (C) win counts as one (1) point and a Provincial Class (P) win as half (0.5) of a point
  • At Mandurah – City Class (C) and Provincial Class (P) wins count as one (1) point and a Country Class (Y) win as half (0.5) of a point
  • At Northam – a Country Class (Y) win counts as one (1) point

In the case of a dead heat at any track, the points are split evenly.
