Trainer Mr Lou Luciani today advised the RWWA Stewards that MOCCASIN BEND which was unplaced in Race 8 the Corfield Tavern Handicap (1200m) on Saturday 20 February 2010 at Ascot had undergone a complete and comprehensive veterinary examination.
MOCCASIN BEND was found to have a minor abrasion to a hind leg but was free of any lameness and a lung wash carried out on the mare did not reveal any significant veterinary abnormalities.
Mr Luciani agreed with Jockey Jason Whiting’s opinion that the MOCCASIN BEND had over-raced in the early and middle stages and this had impacted on its performance.
Mr Luciani advised he would now change the racing bit on MOCCASIN BEND in an attempt to settle the mare. Further as MOCCASIN BEND had pulled up sound it was his intention to nominate the mare for this Saturday, 29 February 2010 at Ascot, with a view to competing in the Bunbury Stakes on Tuesday, 9 March 2010.
Trainer Mr Dan Morton advised the RWWA Stewards that following the disappointing performance of DESTINO in Race 8 the Corfield Tavern Handicap (1200m) on Saturday, 20 February 2010 at Ascot that the gelding would now not start in a race for a period of 3 weeks.
