RWWA Stewards today concluded the inquiry into the discovery of stomach tubing equipment and substances by the Stewards in the possession of Harness Trainer/Driver Mr Noel Keiley when in the company of Mr Ben Keiley at a property in Harvey on Tuesday, 25 May 2010.

Over the course of the inquiry evidence was taken from Mr Noel Keiley, Trainer/Driver Mr Ben Keiley, Senior Steward Stephen Shinn, Steward Matthew Kearns, Steward Rhys Chappell and RWWA Veterinarian Dr Judith Medd.

Mr Noel and Ben Keiley were found guilty to a charge under HRR 245 for an improper practice in that on Tuesday, 25 May 2010 when conveying the pacers OUTOFGAS and PURE VELOCITY to race at the Harvey Race Meeting on Tuesday, 25 May 2010, they had proceeded to a location other than the racecourse with the intention to administer a TCO2 elevating substance prior to such horses being presented for racing.

Further Mr Noel and Ben Keiley pleaded guilty to a charge under HRR 192(1) for having when transporting the pacers OUTOFGAS and PURE VELOCITY to the Harvey Race Meeting on Tuesday, 25 May 2010 in their possession stomach tubing instruments which could be used to administer a substance to a horse.

In relation to penalty Mr Noel Keiley was disqualified for six (6) months for the improper practice charge under HRR 245. Further, Mr Noel Keiley was disqualified for a period of four (4) months for the possession of stomach tubing instruments charged under HRR 192(1).

Mr Ben Keiley was disqualified for a period of four (4) months for the improper practice charge under HRR 245. Further, Mr Ben Keiley was disqualified for a period of two (2) months for the possession of stomach tubing instruments charged under HRR 192(1).
These penalties are to run concurrently and are backdated to commence on Tuesday, 25 May 2010.


RWWA Stewards have been advised by the ChemCentre in Perth, that oxyphenbutazone has been detected in the urine sample taken from FORZA DI VOLONTA which had been a late withdrawal by the Stewards from Race 6 the Clipsal 2YO Fillies WA Sales Classic Final (1730m) at Gloucester Park on Friday, 30 April 2010,

This finding has been verified by the Racing Science Centre in Queensland.

The inquiry will be held at the RWWA Stewards Room Gloucester Park on Wednesday, 9 June 2010 at 10am.
Trainer Mr Glenn Elliott will be required to attend.

RWWA Stewards have been advised by the ChemCentre in Perth, that the pre-race blood sample taken from DISCO GEMINI prior to it competing and winning Race 1 the Schweppes 2 Year Old Pace (1730m) at Gloucester Park on Saturday, 22 May 2010, had a level of total carbon dioxide (TCO2) in excess of 36.0 millimoles per litre in plasma.

This finding has been verified by the Racing Analytical Services Laboratory in Victoria.
The inquiry will be held at the RWWA Stewards Room Gloucester Park on Thursday, 10 June 2010 at 11am.
Trainer Mr Ross Ashby will be required to attend.
