RWWA Stewards today inquired into a report from the ChemCentre in Perth, that heptaminol had been detected in the post race urine sample taken from FLYIN VEE NZ which won Race 4 the All Stars Pace (2569m) at Bunbury on Tuesday, 15 June 2010.

This finding has been verified by the Racing Science Centre in Queensland.

Evidence was taken from the Trainer of FLYIN VEE NZ Mr Andrew De Campo, RWWA Industry Veterinarian Dr Judith Medd and ChemCentre Racing Chemistry Laboratory Manager Mr Charles Russo.

Trainer Mr De Campo pleaded guilty to a charge under HRR 196A(1)(ii) for administering the prohibited substance Kynoselen to FLYIN VEE NZ with heptaminol being detected in the post race urine sample taken from that gelding at Bunbury on Tuesday, 15 June 2010 .

Further Mr De Campo pleaded guilty to a charge under HRR193(3) for administering a medication namely Kynoselen to FLYIN VEE NZ on Tuesday, 15 June 2010 on which day the gelding raced.

In regards to penalty the Stewards took into account:
- Mr De Campo’s guilty pleas and forthright manner in which he gave evidence at the inquiry
- Mr De Campo’s record which showed he had a previous conviction in 2007
- Mr De Campo’s personal circumstances and financial commitments

In relation to the charge under HRR196A(1)(ii) Mr De Campo was disqualified for a period of four (4) months effective immediately.

In relation to the charge under HRR193(3) Mr De Campo was fined the sum of $2,000.

FLYIN VEE NZ was disqualified from 1st place with the amended placings now reading:

1st THE BANTAM (BM Lovett)
2nd DELLAS JACK (DW Morton)
3rd SEA GALE (KN Prentice)
4th GONE TO CARLTON (MS Eyre)
