28 October 2010 Thoroughbred Media Release

RWWA Stewards today concluded the inquiry into a report received from the Racing Science Centre in Queensland, that the pre-race blood sample taken from GONDORFF prior to it competing and finishing unplaced (6th position) in Race 7 the XXXX Gold-Kalgoorlie Cup (2300m) at Kalgoorlie on Saturday, 18 September 2010, had a level of total carbon dioxide (TCO2) in excess of 36.0 millimoles per litre in plasma.

This finding has been verified by Racing Analytical Services Laboratory in Victoria.

Trainer Mr Reed was found guilty to a charge under ARR178 for bringing GONDORFF to the Kalgoorlie Racecourse on Saturday, 18 September 2010 for the purpose of competing in Race 7 the XXXX Gold-Kalgoorlie Cup (2300m) with a level of TCO2 in excess of 36.0 millimoles per litre in plasma.

In regards to penalty Stewards took into account the following:
 - The seriousness of the matter.
 - Consideration was given to the fact that Mr Reed was licensed as a Trainer in both equine codes and is a prominent Driver in the Harness industry.
 - Mr Reed’s record which shows a previous breach of the prohibited substance rules in 2001.
 - Mr Reed’s personal circumstances.

Trainer Mr Reed was disqualified for a period of six (6) months effective immediately.
