TAB Sportsbet today announced that it would refund all Fixed Odds investments, placed between August 4 and September 11, on any runner that does not ultimately start in this year's Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate or Melbourne Cup.
As of 9.00am, September 12, 2007, TAB Sportsbet will officially refund bets on all horses that failed to pay at the First Declaration. The same process will be applied at each subsequent round of declarations up until the Final Field is determined for each individual race.
Given the extenuating circumstances created by Equine Influenza, the TAB Sportsbet refund applies irrespective of the reason for the runner not starting in any of these feature Spring Carnival races.
For Fixed Odds Racing Doubles, if both selected runners do not start in the nominated events, the investment will be due a full refund. Should only one selected runner obtain a start, the investment will be treated as a 'singles' bet on the remaining leg of the Double.
If a customer's investment has been placed on a runner that does gain a start in the nominated event, that wager will stand at the price quoted at the time of bet placement and no deductions will apply.
This one-off course of action is deemed to be the fairest possible outcome for all TAB Sportsbet customers who placed an early Fixed Odds investment on the Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate or Melbourne Cup.
TAB Sportsbet will open a new Fixed Odds book and fresh betting on the Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup on Wednesday, September 12, 2007.
Investing upon the new markets will be subject to 'All In' conditions, meaning refunds on bets placed between September 12 and the declaration of the Final Field will not be payable should the selected runner not start in the nominated race.
