RWWA Stewards today concluded the adjourned inquiry into the reason for THE CORPORATION (P Harvey) checking near the 1200m in Race 3 the Crown Lager Handicap (1400m) at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday, 20 November 2010.
On inquiry it was established that prior to this incident THE CORPORATION commenced to race ungenerously getting its head in the air and when crossed by ESCAPE VELOCITY (Alan Kennedy) over re-acted, checked and veered outwards. Whilst accepting that the racing manner of THE CORPORATION had contributed to this incident, Stewards issued Jockey Alan Kennedy with a severe reprimand for careless riding under ARR137(a) for allowing his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear.
Further Jockey A Kennedy pleaded guilty to a charge under ARR175(p) for failing to comply with a requirement of the Stewards in that he left the racecourse prior to the completion of the above inquiry.
Jockey A Kennedy was fined the sum of five hundred dollars ($500).
