
RWWA Stewards today inquired into a report from RWWA Steward Mr Peter Green that Trainer Patrick Keating had breached the 72 hour National Equine Standstill declared on Saturday 25th August 2007.
Evidence was taken from Trainer Mr P Keating and RWWA Steward Mr P Green.
Mr Keating advised that he had worked horses on a small sand track across the road from his stables on Tuesday 28th August 2007. He acknowledged that he had been fully informed of the Standstill and had attended the public information meeting at Belmont Park on Sunday 26th August 2007 but had interpreted the information incorrectly.
Mr Keating pleaded guilty to a charge issued under the provisions of Rule 238, for failing to comply with an order of the Stewards issued subsequent to the National Equine Standstill order on Saturday 25th August 2007 in that he worked horses away from his training establishment when ordered not to.
In assessing penalty Stewards were mindful of Mr Keating's:
Mr Keating was fined the sum of $2000.
