Composition of RWWA

RWWA is a complex and diverse organisation, offering a unique range of roles within our seven Divisions.

Finance and Business Services

This Division is responsible for RWWA's financial management and strategy, accounting functions including budgets, risk and business continuity process management, audit and legal matters, purchasing, processing of all receipts and payments, preparing annual financial statements, corporate insurance and compliance.

Human Resources

With approximately 580 staff and contractors, the people management services required for RWWA are extensive. This Division provides support to staff and managers on all employment related matters including recruitment, induction, performance management, interpretation and application of policies and workplace conditions. Researching and recommending improvements to workplace reform is a key element of the HR function. Payroll and the management of staff data and reporting also sits within this Division.

Information Services

Progressive and innovative communication strategies are critical to meet the fast pace of the telecommunications and internet needs of RWWA’s business. This Division provides the infrastructure and support services to ensure the delivery of on/off course and online betting services to our customers. This includes technical support for all information systems, ticket machines, the data communications network and our dedicated Racing Radio station. Information security, project delivery and engineering services are all encompassed in this Division.

Racing

Numerous activities are required prior to a successful racing event. This Division oversees the preparation of race meetings through the management and control of the nominations and acceptances process, fixture planning, race programming and results, handicapping and grading, and stakes supervision across the three codes of racing in WA. In addition, it is responsible for the direction of effective racing business strategies, including industry consultation, club support and promotion, club licensing and audits, strategic marketing activities, media communications and general management and development of racing industry operations.

Stewards

The proper conduct and integrity of racing activities are a core responsibility of RWWA. The Stewards Division ensures the integrity and fairness of the racing industry to build confidence and support of the public and participants in the industry. This incorporates assurance administration processes including the licensing and registration of participants and animals, hearing and appeals, rules of racing, RWWA and racecourse investigations along with Racing Industry Training.

Strategic Planning and Corporate Development

The long-term sustainability of the industry requires ongoing planning and strategic development. This Division undertakes industry research, planning and the development of strategies that are aligned to corporate objectives. Business Intelligence including the ongoing analysis and reporting of business performance is provided through this Division to enable effective and responsive planning decisions.

Wagering

With an extensive retail network of some 270 TAB outlets, this Division is responsible for providing customers with an efficient and conveniently located off-course wagering service. As part of the retail distribution requirements, the Wagering Division delivers property services and business support and development to the retail network. It is responsible for agency supply, including ticketing, Agent recruitment, contracts and training. In addition, it manages our call centre channel, product development and associated marketing together with raceday control functions, customer service helpdesk and the ongoing enhancement and development of wagering products with a view to maximising RWWA revenue.
