WA Country Cups is an initiative by Racing and Wagering Western Australia (WATAB), fostering the development and promoting the longevity of country racing across the State.
Western Australia has one of the biggest country racing precincts in the world, with 50 race clubs spread across state, from Wyndham in our far North to Esperance in our far south, and all points in between, country cup meetings are firmly entrenched on Western Australia’s sporting and cultural calendar.
WA Country Cups is more than just horse racing. They are events to be celebrated, where regional communities welcome visitors from near and far to experience a truly unique racing holiday.
No matter where you are in Western Australia, from the coastal beauty of Broome, to the red dirt of Kalgoorlie or the lush greenery of Mount Barker, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Country racing not only plays an integral role in the sustainability of the industry across the State, it also has a critical role in the economic, cultural and social development of our local communities.
The Western Australian racing industry generates more than $550million in direct expenditure and contributes over $590 million in value added to the Western Australian economy. More than 33,600 people are also directly involved in the industry, which provides full time employment for over 6,700 people*.
Country racing undoubtedly is the grassroots of Western Australian racing.
