19 February 2008 Stewards' Inquiry - Greyhounds

RWWA Stewards yesterday concluded an inquiry into the conduct of Owner/Trainer Mr Garry Moon during the race meeting at Greyhounds WA Mandurah on Tuesday, 5 February 2008.

Evidence was taken from Mr Garry Moon and Stipendiary Steward Mr Paul Searle. Mr Moon subsequently pleaded guilty to four separate breaches of the Rules.

  1. Under Rule 86 (f) in relation to two counts of engaging in offensive language towards kennel officials. Mr Moon was issued fines of $250 for each count totalling $500.
  2. Under Rule 86 (g) in relation to threatening an official of the Club. Mr Moon was issued a fine of $2000.
  3. Under Rule 91 (c) in relation to misbehaviour before the Stewards at an Inquiry, Mr Moon was issued with a fine of $500.

In total Mr Moon was fined the sum of $3000.

In consideration of penalty, Stewards took into account the following. Mr Moon's:

  • Guilty plea and forthright manner in which he dealt with the inquiry
  • Personal circumstances
  • Disciplinary record which indicated no prior breaches of these rules
