MEDIA RELEASE
UPDATE ON GREYHOUND LICENSING CHANGES
Following extensive discussion with and feedback from members of the greyhound industry, changes to the current greyhound licensing arrangements were recently approved by the Racing & Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) Board. These changes include:
? Breeders Licence - applicants will be required to meet the current guidelines to register as a breeder, however the fee of $65 is no longer applicable. Any person having paid this amount will be entitled to a full refund. It should be noted that RWWA will not review the fee structure applicable to Breeding Licences for a period of five years (ie. not prior to 1 August 2016).
? Registered Owners – Owners have previously been required to renew their registration on a two-year cycle, paying a fee of $30 per cycle. This will cease immediately and owners will now only be required to register for a period of 5 years and pay a one-off $30 fee. All persons who have currently renewed will be incorporated into a 5 year cycle. It remains a condition of licence that registered persons provide RWWA with written advice relevant to any changes in licensing/personal circumstances (eg. change of address) within 48hrs of the change.
RWWA General Manager Racing Ken Norquay said, “RWWA has listened and considered these changes and their respective impacts on industry, ensuring the licensing amendments are in the best interest of the code participants.”
“Extending the renewal process for owners from two years to five years will assist the greyhound industry by allowing the continuity of nominations to be accepted and remove any unnecessary impacts on the race programming entry process,” Norquay said.
Amendments to both the Breeding license and Owner registration process are effective immediately.
Ends.
