16 January 2009 Sandi’s Mum Memorial Heats

Veteran trainer Max Julien will be hoping for a turnaround in Miss Slick’s form when his kennel star contests the Heat 1 of the Sandi’s Me Memorial (530m) at Cannington on Saturday night.

A contender for 2008 Greyhound of the Year Miss Slick has experienced an usually barren period on the track since last winning in early November last year.

Last week's second to Uno Dylan was her best performance for some time and suggests a rebound to top form is possible soon.

A winner of over $175,000 in stakes Miss Slick is too good to ignore and she won’t be troubled by race box 5 as her best work comes at the business end of the race.

The main threats appear to come in the shape of the up-and-coming Sweet Torque and Care Label, which has been impressive in her last couple of starts but faces a tough ask from box 7.

In Heat 2 quality youngster Fantasy Monelli will have the benefit of box 1 but will be hard pressed to hold out the likes of Most Noble and Flying Shambi.

Heat 3 figures to be an open affair with Zoo Rebel, Ace That, Surflyer and Lead Story all vying for favoritism.

Joanne Monelli, a winner of her past two in the slick times of 30.35 and 30.54, looks the standout in heat 4.

A good beginner this David Hobby-trained chaser should take full advantage of her inside draw.

Earlier in the evening Uno Dylan will be gunning for six wins in row when he lines up in the Free-To-All (race 4).

Miss Slick should break a sequence of bad form to win on Saturday
