03 April 2009 Tough Ask For Distrubia in Mandurah Oaks Heat

The three heats of the Mandurah Oaks (492m) at Kanyana Park on Friday night bring together a quality group of up-and-coming young bitches and the series is good prelude to the group 2 WA Oaks at Cannington later in the month.

The aptly named Disturbia is a talented but erratic chaser and despite being many tipster's selection she is no certainty in Heat 1.

Disturbia looks to have the ability but has struggled for consistency over her short career with five wins and three second from 13 starts.

Frustratingly for trainer David Hobby this Where’s Pedro-Tiny Milly black bitch has underperformed in many races she was expected to win although her last start personal best run of 27.54 gives hope that the greyhound has turned the corner.

Disturbia will start from box 4 in what is the toughest heat of the evening.

Natural Sapphire has the prized rails alley and has the early speed to take advantage.

A genuinely capable greyhound Natural Sapphire has recorded some good results at Cannington but was disappointing in her only start at Mandurah two starts ago.

With 32 starts already under her belt Elusive Fun (box 2) has a decided advantage in terms of experience.

This Lexia Issac greyhound also has good form on her side, finishing no worse than third from her past 11 starts although this is this first time she’ll step up to the 492m distance.

Cyclone Alice has also found some form of late for Kevin Foxton while Best Of Times has been very impressive from a handful of starts.

Material Journey and Book Of Music will be having their first starts in WA for John Iwanyk and Linda Britton respectively, both look promising but are somewhat unknown quantities in this event.

Night Beauty will need to pull off something special from out in box 8 to qualify for the final.

Heat 1 of the Mandurah Oaks is set to jump at 8.37pm at Kanyana Park on Friday evening.
