After obtaining the full support of the eligible bodies WABOTRA, WASBA, WATA and HROA RWWA racing management submitted the following recommendations to the July 2010 Racing Operations Committee meeting for approval.
The recommendations were approved and will be implemented for the 2010/2011 season on the 1st September 2010.
The increase in WestBred subscriptions enables the earlier implementation of the “Breeders” bonus payments, which otherwise would not have been implemented until the start of the 2012/2013 season.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the following changes be made to the Westbred Bonus Scheme and these changes be supported by additional measures aimed at boosting the WA Breeding industry.
1. Bring forward the previously approved Westbred Eligibility Fee of $200 which was originally scheduled for the 2011/12 season for each Westbred Eligible Foal Notified
2. Bring forward the previously approved Westbred Eligibility Fee of $200 which was originally scheduled for the 2011/12 season for each Westbred Eligible Foal Named
3. Bring forward the introduction of a Westbred First Win Bonus of $2000 for each Westbred winning its first race as a 4yo or older provided such horse did not win as a 2yo or 3yo with this payment to commence with horses which become 2yos on 1st September 2010 and with such bonus payments to be made as part of the normal stakes run.
4. Bring forward the introduction of a Westbred Breeders Bonus of $1000 for the first win only recorded by each Westbred regardless of age at which such win is recorded with this payment to commence with horses which become 2yos on 1st September 2010 and with such bonus payments to be made as part of the normal stakes run.
The decision will not impact on the State Sires Series which continues until the completion of the 3 year old racing season for foals born in 2009/10.
WESTBRED CONDITIONS
Effective 1st August 2010
To be eligible for the WestBred scheme a horse must be born, notified, registered and branded in Western Australia and WestBred subscriptions associated with the foaling notification and naming have been paid.
A WestBred bonus is payable to an eligible horse in any OPEN 2 or 3 year old race where it is placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd where the race stake is between $3,001 and $14,999 or 1st 2nd, 3rd or 4th where the race stake is between $15,000 and $19,999.
1. Bonuses are paid as follows;
(a) Where the total advertised stake is between $3,001 and $14,999.

2. Trainer and driver percentages are payable on the bonuses paid. Bonuses will be paid at the same time as the stakes for the meeting but will not be part of stakemoney and will appear as a separate amount on the statement issued to connections of the horse concerned.
3. The breeder of a WestBred eligible horse foaled after 1st September 2008 is entitled to a $1,000 First Win Bonus regardless of the age at which the win occurs.
4. The owner of a WestBred eligible horse foaled after 1st September 2008 is entitled to a $2,000 First Win Bonus where the horse is 4 years old or older which has not previously won a race carrying a WestBred bonus.
5. An open 2yo or 3yo race excludes races restricted to;
a. WestBred eligible horses,
b. WA Sires Series eligible horses,
c. Australian Breeders Crown races,
d. Heats of the WA Sales Classics and
e. A Country Council Derby.
