RWWA Stewards yesterday concluded the inquiry into the reports from the Racing Chemistry Laboratory (RCL) in Perth that the post race urine samples taken from JESSE HANOVER after it had won Race 4 at York on Saturday, 27 October 2007 and PARK DRIVE after it had won Race 5 at Gloucester Park on Saturday 10 November 2007 were found to contain hydrocortisone at a level in excess of that specified in Rule of Harness Racing 188A(2)(f), namely 1.00 micrograms per millilitre.
During the numerous sittings of this inquiry, evidence was taken from the trainer of both pacers, Mr Daniel Voak, RWWA Industry Veterinarian Dr Peter Symons and the Manager of Racing Chemistry Laboratory Mr Charles Russo. Documentary evidence from Professor Thomas Tobin was also presented by Mr Voak.
Trainer Daniel Voak was found guilty to two charges under RWWA Harness Rule of Racing 190(2) for having presented JESSE HANOVER to race on Saturday 27 October 2007 and PARK DRIVE to race on Saturday 10 November 2007 not free of the prohibited substance hydrocortisone at a level in excess of that specified in Rule 188A(2)(f).
In considering penalty Stewards took into account the seriousness of the charges, Mr Voak’s personal circumstances and his previous record.
Trainer Daniel Voak was disqualified for a period of six (6) months for each breach of Rule 190(2) with Stewards ruling that the penalties would be served concurrently.
Under the provisions of Rule of Harness Racing 195 JESSE HANOVER was disqualified as the winner of Race 4 the Be Active Walk There Today Handicap over 2080m at York on Saturday 27 October 2007 and the amended placings being:
